Marketplace guidance for Mecklenburg County
Affordable Health Insurance in Charlotte, North Carolina
Charlotte has a lot of people doing skilled work on contract. Consultants placed at uptown banks, crews building new apartments in South End, and independent workers running their own shops often have no employer plan at all. Estagacy Insurance Group is licensed in North Carolina and helps them compare HealthCare.gov plans for free.
We work from our office in Orlando, Florida and meet Charlotte clients by phone or video. You may qualify for financial help based on your income, and that help can lower your monthly premium right away.
Before your call, gather a recent pay stub or invoice summary, a list of your prescriptions, and the names of doctors you want to keep. With those ready, we can compare plans side by side and answer questions about deductibles, copays and yearly out-of-pocket limits in plain words. If your income is low, we also check whether you or your children may qualify for Medicaid or CHIP instead.
How we help Charlotte residents
Made for contract work
Six-month banking and tech contracts can end without much notice. We help you pick a plan that you can keep between assignments, and we explain what to update when a new contract starts or your pay changes.
Straight talk about remote service
We are not based in Charlotte. A licensed agent meets you by phone or video, shares a screen if you like, and completes the application alongside you. Most people finish in one conversation.
Checking your doctors first
Before you look at prices, we check whether the doctors, specialists and hospitals you already use are in each plan's network, so a low premium does not come with a surprise later.
Estimating self-employed income
The Marketplace uses expected yearly income. If you are paid by invoice or 1099, we help you work out a realistic net number from your records so your financial help fits what you earn.
Who we help
Banking and tech contractors
Consultants and contract analysts working through staffing firms can hold one plan across several assignments.
Construction workers
Framers, electricians, plumbers and laborers on the region's building sites may qualify for financial help based on your income.
Service workers
Restaurant, hotel, salon and retail employees working part-time or variable hours often need their own coverage.
Self-employed and gig workers
Rideshare drivers, photographers, trainers and other independents can cover themselves and their families.

- Outside Open Enrollment you need a Special Enrollment Period (moving, losing coverage, marriage, a baby).
